Pros:

Smooth ride and well designed, spacious interior.

Cons:

Too many repairs for a car that was well taken care. Repairs were always expensive at the Nissan dealerships. Buy a Lexus, Toyota, or Hyundai.

Review:

I had 102K miles on my 2003 Murano, which will be my last Nissan ever. In the last year,I had to replace the alternator (the one Nissan previously replaced on a recall) and replaced both tie rods. And when I took it in for the recent recall(the 4th recall for this model?), the dealership found that both ball joints were going bad and that an axle seal was leaking. The front driver's seat was creaking but the dealership could not find the problem, but I am sure it was ready to break. So I decided to switch to a Lexus. Nissan dealerships are too expensive and the Murano had too many repairs during the past three years. I had put 160K miles on a 1994 Pathfinder that only had a fraction of the problems that this Murano did.

Pros:

Can't say I believe there is any Pros about this car, dealerships, or Nissan as a company.

Cons:

All listed in the body of the review

Review:

The car, along with talking with the Dealership, World Car, and after talking with Nissan North America, hiding across the border in Canada, I've lost all confidence with the car and the company selling the product.  I've had so many major components replaced, mainly the CVT transmission and the break and accelerator assembly, total cost over $6,500, I can't afford to maintain and feel safe driving the car.  All the complaints one reads on the forums concerning this model I've experienced.  Listed:

1. Battery not staying the course, early termination costing me over $120.  If I bought it from the Nissan dealership would have cost approximately the same but only guaranteed for 12 months, not much bang for your buck.
2. Both visors had to be replaced; driver side before exportation of warranty, and the passenger on my dime, $325.
3. Gearshift knob, replaced due to fabric desegregation, flaking off.
4.  Alternator
5.  Not under warranty, replacement of locking door mechanism back door driver side.
6.  Tires replaced at my expense, $550. rubber cracking and state inspector highly recommended it for SAFETY concerns.
7.  Doors lock at random, no salutations from Dealer.  Taking the Corporate line; "NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS PHENOMENA  BEFORE????"
8. While this piece of junk metal is presently in the Dealers for CVT replacement, was called to inform me the motor mounts also need replacement, approximate cost $500.  Car only has 74,000 on it.
9. Never gave it much thought when backing out of my garage down a slight incline, the brakes squealing like a pig, which is what this car is.

I've come to the conclusion I will have to move, sell the this piece of junk can't rely on it to safely carry of love ones; wife, children, and grandchildren, on the super highways at the speeds and congestion of the open roads.  Nissan of North America definitely should be forced by the "national highway transportation safety administration," a bureaucratic arm of the Federal Government, issue a recall and not only reimburse the hard earned monies expended by the American Tax Payers, but because of SAFETY concerns for human life.

Transmission!!!!!!.

Review:

Have a 2003 Murano bought with a extended Certified warrenty from a Nissan dealer with 23,000 miles.  At 36,000 the transmission was replaced.  At 58,000 miles trans replaced again. Now at dealer 73,000 miles - transmission will be replaced again.  All 3 times exact same problem, the car fails to rev from a stop and then slowly starts to go.  A major safely issue.  Read all the posts and stay away!

Pros:

Looks Nice, drives nice.

Cons:

Horrible transmission, hard on brakes and tires.

Review:

I have been reading some of the reviews and noticed a trend here. I have a 2003 Murano and I was just informed that I need a valve body for my trans. I have 60,800 miles and the warranty covers to 60,000, I asked for goodwill and was denied (of course). I am very displeased with all this but of course the only thing I can do is pay for repairs. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do next? Thanks

Pros:

Comfortable, unique looking (in 2003)

Cons:

Expensive repairs, poor corporate support, wind buffeting with rear windows open

Review:

The tranny started making a noise at 93K. The "stealership" stated that a bearing was going out and the tranny would have to be replaced...$5,700! We appealed to their "Good Will" process and were denied. We had all of the recommended services performed, etc... We are now dealing with Nissan corporate. We'll never buy a Nissan again.
